Spring time is approaching and there is great healthy spring time dish that will satisfy your taste buds. A Small Spring Salad is a great dish for early spring and it can also help you stay healthy, so, you can be in great shape for summer.
A Spring Salad Ingredients with Balsamic Vinaigrette
Spring Salad Ingredients
- 1 Cup of Spring lettuce or Roman
- 1 half sliced Zucchini (dice if you prefer)
- 2 slices of Cucumber (dice if you prefer)
- 1 sliced Tomato (dice if you prefer)
- 1 slice of Portobella Mushroom (dice if you prefer)
- 2 tablespoons of olive or canola oil
- 1 teaspoon of balsamic
- A quarter of a teaspoon of Dijon
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- (optional) 1 clove of garlic
Spring Salad: Wash Spring Lettuce and place into bowl or plate (whichever you prefer). Then slice zucchini, cucumber, tomato and portobella mushroom and mix in with spring lettuce or rest on top of salad.
Side Note: The Spring Salad is also low calorie, however it goes well with any type of dressing. You can change up the dressing by adding ranch, blue cheese, classic vinaigrette, creamy Italian, creamy balsamic, or any type of dressing that you may prefer. Diet salad dressing would be a great option if you want to stick to a low calorie intake. Also adding 1 tbs of crushed almonds to your salad can be a great way to spice up the flavor of your salad.
Balsamic Vinaigrette: Pour olive oil or canola oil into container of choice or pour into bowl (depending on amount of salad dressing you want) and then add in balsamic vinaigrette. Next put in dijon mustard and clove of garlic if you prefer your salad with garlic. Then add your salt and pepper into the mixture and stir or shake until ingredients are smoothed. If kept refrigerated over night once mixed, the mixture will smooth itself out but can be served immediately.
